Unwooded Chardonnay

the Australian benchmark for the style

Description

Chapel Hill’s Unwooded Chardonnay is produced from fruit grown in South Australia’s most acclaimed Chardonnay regions: McLaren Vale, Coonawarra and Adelaide Hills. These three regions exemplify Chardonnay’s invigorating flavour spectrum. They each contribute distinctive varietal flavours that mingle effortlessly to culminate in a wine of delicious texture and sublime depth of flavour.

Tasting Notes

Awards & Reviews for recent releases

2008 Chapel Hill, with its chapel (circa 1865), olive groves, orchard and vineyards is a delightful place to visit. And its wines are always among McLaren Vale’s best. Here is a finely textured, complex white with finesse. Citrus aromas are followed by a soft, creamy mouth-feel with flinty undertones. Has a lovely texture and clean, lingering after-taste. Jeff Collerson – Food – The Daily Telegraph, 2009

2005 Feb. 2006, Unwooded Chardonnay is a bit like a chip without salt or a sausage without sauce. It tastes as if something is missing – but not here. Ignore the grape variety and the lack of wood, this is a white in its own right suitable for those occasions when you'd drink Verdelho or Sauvignon Blanc. There's plenty of aroma and flavour, tempered and restrained by all encompassing acidity. — Greg Duncan Powell Sydney Morning Herald 'Uncorked' Magazine, 2006
