Chapel Hill Reserve 2014 is commemorative release wine made to honor the 150th birthday of the building that gives us our name and our home.. On December 5th 2015 we mark 150 years to the day that the Seaview Chapel and School House was officially opened.
Reserve was a name we used in the early 90s to mark our very best wine of each vintage. It was a timeless claret style wine, blended of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine eventually was renamed The Vicar, a wine you know today as 100% McLaren Vale Shiraz. The 2014 version is is a blend of the best Vicar Parcels and the best barrel from the 2014 Gorge Block Cabernet Sauvignon. The label is a recreation of the 1992 label.
This is an opulent full bodied red wine style that will reward many years in the cellar.
- Winemaking Notes
100% French Oak Hogs Heads for 20 months. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
- Growing Conditions
Average winter rainfall meant the vines enjoyed a healthy start to the growing season. A period of heat in early February tested the vines but mid February rain meant the vines were refreshed. The proceeding warm days and cool nights ensured the grapes achieved optimum flavour and tannin development.
