Sea and Vines Update - 5/05/2008We have taken a change of direction in 2008 with respect to the Sea and Vines Festival.
We are not participating in the event this year.
We are very pleased to advise that instead we are sponsoring one of the Fleurieu Biennale Art Prizes; the “Art of Food and Wine”.
An exhibition of the finalists will be held at our Cellar Door for the whole month of November and we will also be offering lunches at the Gourmet Retreat every Sunday in November.
During the Sea and Vines Weekend our Cellar Door will open for tasting and sales as usual but with a slight change of hours.
Saturday 7th, 12noon – 5.00pm; Sunday 8th & Monday 9th, 11.00am – 4.00pm.

Chapel Hill Crowned "Best in World" - 9/11/2007Mr Michael Fragos – Chief Winemaker at McLaren Vale’s Chapel Hill winery - beat wine industry all-comers from across the globe to win the Wolf Blass Trophy for “Winemaker of the Year” at London’s highly-acclaimed 2008 International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC). In a stunning performance, the IWSC judges also awarded Chapel Hill the Maersk Logistics Trophy for Australian Wine Producer of the Year. “I am absolutely ecstatic and proud of our achievements,” a delighted Mr Fragos, 39, said today. “For Chapel Hill’s winemaking excellence to be recognised over and above winemakers from more than 50 countries is an outstanding effort, and really cements our position on the world stage,” he said.
“The award is great recognition to the commitment and enthusiasm to the entire Chapel Hill team and our loyal group of grape growers.”
The International Wine and Spirit Competition was founded in 1969 and is regarded as the premier competition of its kind in the world.
This year’s competition attracted more than 5000 entries from over 50 countries. 2 Trophies and 3 Gold Medals at IW&SC in London - 5/10/2007Chapel Hill has won 2 trophies and 3 gold medals at the prestigious International Wine and Spirit Competition held in London - including "Best Cabernet in Show" against wines from the world's leading wine producing countries. The Chapel Hill McLaren Vale 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon took out the Warren Winiarski Trophy for the Best Cabernet Sauvignon of Show and also won a gold medal. The 2004 McLaren Vale Shiraz won the Penfolds Trophy for the Best Australian Red Wine - and a gold medal. A gold medal was also awarded to the 2005 McLaren Vale Shiraz. The 2005 McLaren Vale Shiraz Grenache also won a Trophy for the best Grenache/Grenache Blend at the McLaren Vale Wine Show in October.
